The Machame Route, commonly known as the “Whiskey Route,” is one of the most scenic and popular trails to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It approaches the mountain from the southwest and offers excellent acclimatization due to its “climb high, sleep low” profile. The route passes through rainforest, heath, alpine desert, and glacial zones before reaching the summit at Uhuru Peak (5,895 m / 19,341 ft).
